Impromptu Raft Trip

Corren and I decided that an adventure was in order before he was going to be sleep-deprived for months on end. A few ideas were tossed about, but we kept coming back to an epic RAFT TRIP! Since the only river that I've been down was the Grand Ronde and Corren was an epic cool raft master guide, I let him figure out where we should go. It didn't take him long to kick into planning over drive mode. He had been on one of the upper sections of the Deschutes but not the lower two sections, which sounded super fun. All in all the trip would consist of three days on the water, some awesome rapids, some long drawn out flat sections, really friendly police, lots of rain, wicked sweet slides, good coffee, a rattle snake named Ted, some howly wind, a handful of trains, one portage, a little fishing, some crazy driving, and one freakishly good time.

Asking for directions.

 Looking good at the start.

Fishing...not catching.

 Found a sweet slide!

And then it started to rain...

 a lot!

The Love of Books

It is so much fun watching children develop a love of reading. In the past, if Lincoln was too quiet, it ALWAYS meant he was up to no good (smearing his hair with butt paste, unrolling toilet paper, taking off his diaper...you get the idea). But recently I've found him enjoying books more often than not. And if he chases you down with a book. You better read it to him.

Face-off

Little Everett has been trying to sit up on his own. He isn't very good at it yet, but he wanted to send some pictures to daddy to show off. We got this in return.

New Old Playground: Part 2

To make this outing even more wonderful, Uncle Everett and Evan were able to drop by for awhile.

New Old Playground: Part 1

There used to be a playground across from our home. Zeke loved playing there. Then so many things happened. The first of which, is that we moved. And eventually, the playground was broken up to make way for a new school. But Zeke never quit begging to play on "his" playground. We noticed that the pile of playground pieces had been moved to a new location, and eventually, they were re-assembled and eventually the caution tape was removed, and today we actually got to go and play there.

Cream

Tonight at the Currents, Lincoln wasn't eating much. Until the whipped cream. Granted, I'm the one who generally goes overboard with the cream, but I swear, this wasn't me. I was in the other room with baby and Zeke and somebody kept feeding him spoonfuls of cream. Could he look any more pleased?

Everett Photo of the Day

I love how cheeky he is getting. And today when I put him in the jumper, he was actually trying to grab Mr. Buzzy Bee.

Caught in the Act

I love it when this happens. ON THEIR OWN, the boys decided to share a snack together at their little table. I heard happy little chirping from the other room and found them enjoying this little Cheerio date. Why does it seem that brothers are either best friends or at each others' throats?

Just a Tuesday

So many mornings begin with me discovering that Zeke has crawled over one of us and is sleeping in the middle of our bed. Baby is usually the first one up, and Zeke is almost always the late sleeper. Which gives us hope that maybe someday all the boys will want to sleep a little more. Hey, a girl can dream...

Gabby Snaps

What's summer without an ice pop (or two)?

Holding Baby

This morning was one of those rare occasions when Zeke asks to hold the baby. He does a pretty good job of it too, and somehow whatever Rusty does cracks him up. But then, to my surprise, Lincoln wanted a turn as well. He was even more amused.

Nature Boy

At first I couldn't figure out why Zeke was walking so oddly. But he was so eager to show off his footwear embellishment. I told him that I used to pick dandelions and stick them in my socks. He said that sounded silly.

Everett Shows Off

It would seem that the little guy has figure out how to roll from his back to his stomach. Stop it! You are a baby.

A Camping Part: Part 2

So, I guess the night outside went pretty well. (Oh, I didn't mention that baby Everett and I slept inside? Bwah-ha-ha.) The kiddos finally settled down enough to drift off to sleep, and the bright morning sun had them all up nice and early. Except for Zeke, that kid can sleep.

A Camping Party: Part 1

In an attempt to keep it simple this year, we planned a backyard camping party for Lincoln's birthday. Everyone brought their sleeping bags and we roasted hot dogs and made s'mores in the firepit (even though it was super hot out).

Birthday and a Graduation

Lincoln has been getting more and more ornery in Sabbath school lately. Robb actually had to hold him during the birthday song and offering. So, when they asked if we wanted him to graduate today or later, it seems like today was the correct answer. Next week he'll be attending the older class, can't wait to see how that goes.

The Coffees at Large

Happy Sabbath from the Coffees! (It nearly takes a miracle to get all three boys to all have relatively normal expressions when a camera is pointed their way.)
