A Little Mixed Up

Who knows what goes on in this kid's head. Today he REALLY wanted to put on my down coat. And when he was finally successful, he was so pleased with himself. Keep in mind, it was probably 100 degrees outside...

Time for Reflection

It really doesn't matter that we are all dressed and ready to go somewhere. Chilling out in an easy chair in your wading pool takes precedence.

Treasure!

Zeke was a little surprised to discover something new in the back yard this evening. A new sandbox and a mysterious X written out in seashells. Hmmm, might Captain Blue Pants actually have buried something there? His greedy little face was priceless. (And I love the way he pronounces "doubloons.")

Happy Fourth, Little Pirate

To celebrate his fourth birthday, this year Zeke asked for a "Pirate Pie." Robb was only too happy to comply. Since doing a subtle pirate theme for his nursery, its been a recurring theme. Lately he has wanted to hear stories of Captain Blue Pants, and how there might be buried treasure in the back yard. So, it seemed like a good excuse to hang out with good friends and enjoy a meal.

Blueberries

One of the best parts about summer around here is all of the fresh produce opportunities. We especially love the you-pick blueberries out at Lampson's. Even though they've assured us that we don't have to pay for all the berries we eat while "picking" I still feel a bit guilty. Because, out of the five of us, Robb is the only one completely devoted to the task. I did, at least try to put as many berries in my bucket as my mouth this time... Unlike the boys, who just try to raid our buckets.

Baby Love

What's not to love? This kid is seriously happy sometimes. And cuddly.

Shucking Corn

While making supper tonight, Robb enlisted the help of two industrious little dudes. They were so focused on their task, they wouldn't even look up.

Pendleton Water Park

Corren has been suggesting an outing to the Pendleton Water Park for some time now. And I'm not sure why it has taken us so long to get over there. The place is amazing. And affordable, and not at all crowded for a Sunday. Okay, so that was when we first showed up. It did get pretty crowded eventually. Zeke was a bit disappointed that he is too short to ride the big waterslides. Little daredevil. He wouldn't have anything to do with the little ones though. And it is way past time to sign these boys up for swimming lessons.

Little Adventures

I just noticed that the boys left their wagon out in the trees, so I went to inspect. It turns out that while McKenna was here, she organized a fort building. I guess they pulled together some scrap wood that they found down by the shop and then did a little decorating. The boy have been out there off and on all morning.

Then this afternoon the guys set up the pool in the back yard. So far, only David and Zeke have been brave enough to go in. The water comes out of our well pretty chilled. But we end up with a bunch of little underwear dudes running around the back yard and rolling in dirt piles.

Gabby Snaps

Zeke needed a nap today, so it was the Lincoln and Everett show. Linc reviewed Gabby's design portfolio (and, no doubt, provided helpful critique). Everett practiced raising his head. Yes, important life skills being learned here.

Zeke Photography

Just another glimpse of life as Zeke sees it.

Sleeping Baby

Oh the joy of a sleeping baby. And the joy of a mama with said baby on her shoulder. And he is equally happy to sleep in Auntie Tara's arms, or with cousin McKenna.

Craik Kids

I love it when we can get all of these little cousins together—we never get to see enough of each other. So before everyone took off today, we paused to celebrate Father's Day. Dad, Jeremy, Robb and Everett: you are the best!

A VIP Graduates

So, just to brag a bit: two years ago, Everett got into one of the most competitive nursing programs
at the top community college in the nation. And this afternoon, it was our honor to attend his pinning ceremony.

It was no easy feat, and I applaud Jelinda and Evan for supporting him through it all. He endured the late nights, sweated through his practical training and stressed more than his fair share, but it paid off in the end. His program doesn't recognize a valedictorian, but if they did, I guarantee I would be bragging even more. Way to go, Everett! We can't wait to see where God will lead you in the future.
