Bloomsday

Bloomsday was quite the event. In the past I've only cheered from the sides, so everything was pretty new. We put Zeke in the stroller and Lincoln in the pack. Even though it wasn't really nap time, they both snoozed on and off through most of the two and a half hours. It was incredibly surreal to be in the midst of over 50,000 participants. We were so near the back of the pack, but if you turned around there were still probably 10,000 people behind us.

Zeke and Pepper at the starting line. (Thanks to Sherisa for sharing her photos!)

It was great to have Nilmini with us. Especially when she was pushing the stroller uphill.

Lincoln had a messy diaper along the way.

Robb wouldn't stop for anything!

Turkey Trot

We assembled at dawn for the second annual Turkey Trot 5K, an event planned by our local Red Cross chapter. We weren't really counting on running on snow-laden streets, but it wasn't so bad. Ezekiel was bundled up in his stroller and slept through most of it.

Bloomsday 2010

So, the Mahurin and Coffee Clans took a road trip up to Spokane with Bloomsday in mind. This was Gene and Adrianna's first time running and my second, so I was a little more excited than they were. There were around 50,000 people running the 12-K, which makes for a fun race. Good times were had all around. Oh, and I beat my time from last year by almost 14 mins. :)

Robb's Running Update

I've been gearing up for a half marathon, and also training to speed up my time at Bloomsday this year. Today we did the five-mile trail run around Bennington Lake (Mill Creek). I met up with Johannes, Chelane and Shannon for the fun little jaunt. I thought we were going to get rained on and the trails were going to be nice and muddy. But, alas, the weather was perfect and the trails were amazing. Maybe it will be better next time. For more running updates, check here.

Snow!

That's right folks. It has snowed in Walla Walla before Christmas yet again. It was so beautiful on Sabbath afternoon that we could not resist a bit of a winter walk. Though, as you will see, Pat and John couldn't resist a bit of a run. Those crazy marathoners...

The Results Are In

We ran a 10K! Okay, so I ran it sorta slow and came in with a time of 1:11:03, but I figure that it's a start. Robb, on the other hand, came in first for his category with a time of 56:58. He even got a prize. It was a gorgeous track through the local vineyards, except they incorporated a bunch of hills... The best part was that Gene and Adrianna were there too and Adrianna stayed with me the whole time even though I know it slowed her time considerably. Gene came in at an amazing 45:40. The man was booking! (He is in training for a marathon in November.) Photo Credit
