The Longest Table

This was the perfect way to get our food over to the table.

One of the rare moments when Zeke wasn't trying to run away.

We've been out of town for the previous ones, so weren't quite sure what to expect today. It was madness. There were so many people and even though our table was right in the middle, you couldn't even see the other end. David even got some screen time on the local news.

Creative Baby Gift

One of the lovely ladies from our potluck/social committee stopped by yesterday with this gift. She is a big fan of Robb, as he always spends several hours at the sink during every potluck. It came with this poem that she wrote:

Now don't get excited
And don't be misled,
This isn't for the baby—
But for Robert instead!!
So when you have read this
With all our good wishes
Just unpin and untie it
And let Rob do wash the dishes!
(At least for the next few weeks!)

Family Potluck

Ezekiel catches some rays with dad.

Everett painted (PAINTED!) this for grandma.

Erik gears up for October.

McKenna goes for the gusto.

We had such a great weekend, celebrating Grandma Edna's 90th year. The weather was perfect, the food delicious and the company delightful.

Biggest. Potluck. Ever.

It was so crowded down in the fellowship hall this Sabbath, that I never even made it out of the kitchen for lunch. I think we've had the best turnout ever. In addition to the 60-person visiting choir, we had a multitude of guests and many church members brought more food than I think I've ever seen at one of these potlucks. We even had left-overs (although I never did get to test my double chocolate and walnut cake). Robb and I were washing dishes until nearly 4:00, so were ready for a good nap by then.

If you get the chance, drop in for our next potluck on March 20!

I Heart Potluck

I think the only time I cook/bake is for potluck. Robb requested Peanut Butter bars and I don't have to be talked into making those. There were even leftovers, (un)fortunately, so we got to finish them off. As usual, we manned the dish-washing station with a little help from Michael.

Peanut Butter Bars
Bring 1/2 c. sugar and 1/2 c. light syrup to boiling. Add 3/4 c. peanut butter and 1/2 t. vanilla and stir well. Turn off heat and add 3 c. Rice Krispies and stir. Quickly transfer to greased 9" x 13" dish. Melt 1/2 c. butterscotch chips and 1 c. chocolate chips and spread over Rice Krispies. Let cool and harden before serving.
