Zeke got to go to Jumping Jellybeans today with the Crawfords. It was a much-needed opportunity to expend some of his energy. (And for mommy and Lincoln to catch a nap.)
Lincoln had a little bit of fun with a green marker today. He looks like a little caveman. And below is Zeke's depiction of what he things the baby is going to look like.
Zeke has it all figured out. Since he knows that it is spring, it must follow that this baby is ready to be born. He's been following its progress on this well-worn sheet from the doctor's office. Today he informed me that he knew how big baby was and then celebrated with a happy dance. We'll see how happy he actually is when baby is here.
We purchased these seed starter kits about a month ago and Zeke was NOT pleased when we told him that we weren't quite ready to start them yet. So today it was quite a treat for him. He very carefully poured the right amount of water in each section. And Lincoln very carefully supervised. Okay, he supervised.
Then Emmarie dropped in for a bit, so they took a break to play outside then back to the seeds.
Robb has been working on yet another project for me. I'm so lucky to have such a talented guy. He is working on some built-in bookcases for the far end of our living room. And Lincoln was determined to "help" today at every point. Lucky dada.
Well, the day finally came. I said it wouldn't, I said it was just going to grow out. It was so cute, he looked like such a sweet baby. But, it was time. (Officially, that is. Zeke already took out a wee chunk.)
I have to say, he took to the haircut much easier than I thought he would. He didn't squirm and fuss, just leaned into it. And now he looks all grown up. Sigh.
I don't make this claim lightly. Because apple pie is serious business. I mean, my grandma made a wicked good apple pie. And my mom's apple pie is pretty much the best, a recipe I'm lucky to have. But when Robb took that same recipe and baked it in his cast iron skillet? Well, you would have had to have been there.
We felt so lucky to get to hang out with little Katelynn this afternoon. Almost as soon as she was out of her car seat, Zeke was demanding to hold her. Good grief, where was this love of babies when we brought Lincoln home?
Gabby made a batch of cupcakes with the boys the other day. Amazingly enough, they were not all gone this morning when Lincoln woke up. Robb caught him in the act of polishing off the last one.
On Friday nights, Zeke gets to go to sleep in our bed. The tradition began because he wanted to start every night in our bed. So now, if he goes to sleep in his own bed all week, Friday night is cuddle and chat time.
He has all sorts of topics that he wants to cover and he loves hearing stories and then there is plenty of giggling. Tonight I tried to get a picture of us, but every time he made the silliest faces. On purpose. What a little poser.
Finally! A beautiful morning and the chance to get the boys outside. We took them over to Fort Walla Walla and one of the highlights was the swing set. And the mud puddles. And the dirt bike track. Lots of fun for little boys.
These kids are just growing up so quickly. Lincoln is loving any opportunity to show off big kid skills. Like sitting at the table in a chair with no booster, or feeding himself with a spoon.
